Marlon Stardew Valley Guide | Role, Schedule & Secrets
There is a Monster Hunter in this game named “Marlon”. He is the leader of the Adventurer’s Guild, which he founded about 25 years before the player arrives. He lives in the Adventurer’s Guild building with his friend Gil, located in the Mountain area north of Pelican Town.

Marlon Stardew Valley is not very social because he is always focused on danger. He has spent many years running the guild and has seen many people come and go. He feels like his job is thankless but still does it with a sense of duty. While he may not be well-known in Pelican Town, he is respected by other monster hunters, especially those from Castle Village. He is also friends with Gil and the Wizard, Magnus Rasmodius.
When the player enters the Mines for the first time, Marlon appears in a cutscene. He explains that ores and minerals can be found inside, but the place is full of monsters. He gives the player their first weapon, the Rusty Sword, and tells them to explore. To join the Adventurer’s Guild, the player must kill ten slimes in a quest called “Initiation.”
After the player builds a Slime Hutch, Marlon visits and gives them a Slime Egg to start raising slimes. He also buys monster drops at the counter inside the guild. He has written at least two books and sometimes thinks about retiring to raise slimes as a hobby. Marlon cannot be married or given gifts in the game.
Schedule
Before You Join the Adventurer’s Guild
Before you complete the “Initiation” quest, Marlon never leaves the Adventurer’s Guild. He stands behind the counter all day, and at night, he stands just outside the guild door. You won’t see him walking around the valley until after you’ve joined the guild.
General Routine After Joining the Guild
After you join the Adventurer’s Guild, Marlon starts moving around more. He still works inside the guild every day from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, but outside of those hours, he visits other places. You might see him at the mine entrance, at Isabelle or Ketra’s grave, by the river, or at the Community Center if it has been repaired. So once you’re a guild member, Marlon doesn’t just stay in one place, he explores the valley a bit more.

Movies & Concessions
Marlon loves dark and serious movies like Mysterium and It Howls in the Rain. He also enjoys some adventurous films like Brave Little Sapling and Wumbus, but dislikes cheerful ones like Miracle at Coldstar Ranch.
For snacks, he loves healthy or fancy treats like Panzanella Salad, Jasmine Tea, and Truffle Popcorn. He likes basic options like Nachos and Fries, but dislikes sugary ones like Cotton Candy, Joja Cola, and Black Licorice.
Recovery Service
As I said, Marlon lives with Gil in the Adventurer’s Guild, where he manages the front desk. Unlike other villagers, players can’t build friendship with him through gifts. If you faint in dangerous places like the Mines or Skull Cavern, Marlon offers an Item Recovery Service, letting you buy back one lost item before it’s replaced by newer ones.
What Is the Adventurer’s Guild?
The Adventurer’s Guild is a small building near the Mines in Stardew Valley. It opens every day from 2:00 PM to 2:00 AM. You can go there to buy weapons, boots, and rings to help you fight monsters in the Mines and Skull Cavern.
You cannot enter the Guild right away. First, you have to complete a quest called “Initiation.” This quest tells you to kill 10 slimes. After that, the door will unlock forever.

Who Runs the Guild?
There are two characters inside:
- Marlon: He runs the Guild and sells items. He also helps you recover items you lose when you faint in battle.
- Gil: He sits in the chair and gives you special rewards when you finish monster-killing goals.
What Can You Do There?
- Buy Items: You can buy swords, boots, and rings from Marlon to become stronger in fights.
- Sell Items: You can sell monster loot like slime, bat wings, and other gear you don’t want.
- Recover Lost Items: If you faint in the Mines or other dungeons, you drop some items. Marlon can give one of them back to you for a small fee.
- Monster Goals: There is a board that tracks how many monsters you’ve killed. If you kill enough of each type, Gil gives you a prize.
